School Meals

Pupils at Queen Edith can have a hot school meal each day. This is freshly prepared each day by our catering company, Aspens. They have a cashless pre-order system and you can order school meals on line for up to half a term. Parents are responsible for ensuring their child/ren’s meal is ordered by 8.30am each day; to book your child/rens school meal and to view Aspens menu please click on the green button below:

Aspens cater for pupils with allergies and dietary requirements. Please contact our school office staff with regard to any allergies or dietary requirements so that they can ensure Aspens provide you with a specially adapted menu.

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a universal infant free school meal every day. If you consider that your children might be entitled to a free school meal please complete this form produced by the Department for Education.

PACKED LUNCH FROM HOME

Alternatively children can bring in a packed lunch from home. Ideas for healthy packed lunches are detailed in the leaflet below.  Please ensure that lunch boxes are named and note that we do not allow sweets or nuts to be included as part of a packed lunch.

Healthy Eating Leaflet.QED.June 2023

We have several pupils who are allergic to nuts and it is essential that no nuts, peanut butter, chocolate spread, or other foods containing traces of nuts are brought into school.

SNACK TIME

Children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with fruit every day as part of the National Fruit Scheme. In Year 3 to Year 6 children may bring in a fruit snack from home to have at morning playtime or can buy a snack from the kitchen. A snack menu can been seen here

DRINKS

Research shows that our brains need water to stay active and alert! All children are encouraged to bring water (not squash or juice) into school daily, in a spill-proof, unbreakable bottle that they can take home at night to rinse and refill. Please name water bottles. So children can re-fill their water bottles, we have drinking water taps conveniently placed around the school at Queen Edith.

Here are some examples of our school lunches that are made on the school premises in line with government food standards for schools which can be found here.
